HomeMy WebLinkAbout13847 1 RESOLUTION NO. 13,847 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AWARD A CONTRACT TO MID-ARK ROOFING, 4 INC., TO CONSTRUCT A NEW ROOF FOR THE TROPICAL BIRD 5 HOUSE AT THE LITTLE ROCK ZOO; TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY 6 MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH MID-ARK 7 ROOFING, INC., FOR SUCH SERVICES; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 8 9 WHEREAS,the Little Rock Zoo's Tropical Bird House is a WPA building that houses many tropical 10 birds that require natural light cycles for the health and welfare and its old, worn roof needed 11 replacement, and 12 WHEREAS,the City issued a Request for Proposals and the work to replace the roof was awarded to 13 the low bidder, and 14 WHEREAS, the low bidder failed to satisfactorily perform the work, that company was not paid, and 15 the deficient roof installed needs to be replaced,and 16 WHEREAS, of the bids received to replace the roof, the second lowest bid from a willing, 17 responsible and responsive bidder is from Mid-Ark Roofing, Inc., and Mid-Ark Roofing, Inc., is ready to 18 perform the needed services, and 19 WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the Zoo and the birds housed in the Tropical Bird House to 20 award a contract to Mid-Ark Roofing, Inc.,to provide the new roof. 21 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 22 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 23 Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby awards a contract to Mid-Ark Roofing, Inc., to provide the 24 needed roof replacement for the Tropical Bird House to the Little Rock Zoo pursuant to Request for 25 Proposals No. 13,139 for a total contract amount not to exceed Fifty Thousand, Seven Hundred and Four 26 Dollars ($50,704.00), plus 10%to allow change orders, if needed, for a total amount of Fifty-Five Thou- 27 sand, Seven Hundred Seventy-Four and 40/100 Dollars ($55,774.40), and authorizes the City Manager to 28 enter into a contract, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for such services. 29 Section 2. The funds for the contract are to come from the Zoo's deferred maintenance account. 30 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 31 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 32 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution, which shall remain in full force and [Page 1 of 21 1 1 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 2 resolution. 3 Section 4. Repealer.
