Little Rock Board of Directors Reconvened Meeting

The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, met in a reconvened session
with Vice-Mayor Doris Wright presiding. City Clerk Susan Langley called the roll with
the following Directors present: Hendrix; Hurst; Cazort; Hines; Wyrick; Kumpuris;
Fortson; Adcock; and Vice-Mayor Wright. Directors Absent: Mayor Stodola and Director
Richardson.
AGENDA (Item 1)
1. RESOLUTION: To make appointments to the Little Rock Civil Service Commission;
and for other purposes. Staff recommends approval.
Synopsis: Appointment of James Hudson to serve his first six (6)-year, said term to expire on April
1, 2019. Appointment of Paula Gray Stitz to serve her first six (6)-year term, said term to expires on
April 1, 2019.
Director Cazort stated that his understanding was that the two (2) appointments had
previously been appointed to fill unexpired terms and were now up for appointment to a
full term. Director Cazort stated that he had been told that their appointment was
necessary for a Civil Service Commission Meeting that was scheduled later that week.
City Attorney Tom Carpenter stated that the Commission Meeting had been
rescheduled.
Director Cazort made the motion; seconded by Director Adcock, to approve the
appointments.
City Attorney Carpenter stated that the Vice-Mayor, in the absence of the Mayor, would
actually make the appointments and a motion would be needed to confirm the action.
Vice-Mayor Wright stated that if there were no urgency, she would prefer to wait and let
the Mayor make the appointments upon his return.
Director Cazort stated that since the Commission Meeting had been postponed and the
appointment were not essential at that time, he would withdraw his motion. Director
Adcock withdrew her second of the motion.
Director Cazort made the motion, seconded by Director Hurst, to adjourn the
reconvened meeting. By unanimous voice vote of the Board Members present, the
reconvened meeting was adjourned.
