HomeMy WebLinkAbout6731 RESOLUTION NO. 6 , 731 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS , EXPRESSING THE INTENT TO REDUCE RESIDENTIAL SANITATION FEES RESTORE CITY SERVICES TO 1980 AND 1981 SERVICE LEVELS AND FUND CERTAIN ADDITIONAL SERVICES, PROVIDED THE LOCAL OPTION ONE CENT SALES TAX IS APPROVED BY THE ELECTORATE OF PULASKI COUNTY ON FEBRUARY 2, 1982; REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 6 ,729 ; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS , there is a vital need for the City of Little Rock to obtain additional revenue to provide adequate services for its citizens ; and WHEREAS, legislation has been enacted allowing counties and cities and towns to levy a one cent local option sales tax if approved by the electorate ; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas , to reduce residential sanitation fees in the amount of $5. 00 per month, which would establish the monthly fee at $1. 25 per month ; and WHEREAS , it is the intent of the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock to restore City services to the 1980 and 1981 service levels ; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock to fund certain additional services ; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock to fulfill the above stated intentions provided the local option one cent sales tax is approved by the electorate of Pulaski County on February 2 , 1982. I NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. SECTION 1 . The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas , hereby expresses the intent to reduce the residential sanitation fee in the amount of $5. 00 per month, establishing the fee at $1. 25 per month in the event the local option one cent sales tax is approved by the voters of Pulaski County at the special election to be held on February 2 , 1982. This reduction will be effective the month following the first receipt of sales tax revenues from the State of Arkansas. SECTION 2. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock hereby expresses the intent that any reduction in sanitation fee revenues will be coupled with immediate allocation of sales tax revenues to ensure full funding for the Sanitation Division of the Public Works Department as provided for in the 1982 City Operating Budget. SECTION 3. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, hereby expresses the intent to restore City services to the 1980 and 1981 service levels in the event the one cent local option sales tax is approved by the electorate of Pulaski County at the special election to be held on February 2 , 1982. SECTION 4. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas , hereby expresses the intent to fund additional services in the following priority: Fire Services Police Services Street Resurfacing Drainage Projects Parks and Recreational Programs Environmental Programs These additional or improved services will be funded in the event that the local option one cent sales tax is approved by the electorate of Pulaski County at the special election to be held on February 2 , 1982. SECTION 5. With passage of this Resolution, Resolution No. 6729 adopted by the Board of Directors on January 19 , 1982, is hereby repealed. SECTION 6.
