A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK ENDORSING THE MARKHAM STREET
URBAN DESIGN PLAN WITH THE STIPULATION THAT A
DETAIL LANDSCAPING AND TRAFFIC ANALYSIS WILL BE
COMPLETED AND REVIEWED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION
PRIOR TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PLAN.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed and discussed the Markham
Street Urban Design Project; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors recognizes the need for a plan of the
Markham Street area to serve the Convention Center, Riverfront Park, and
Metrocentre and protect the access to the Central Business District; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors acknowledges the Planning Commission's
reservations about the future traffic capacity of Markham, specifically as
it relates to loading, unloading, and parking for the plan area; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors sees the benefit of coordinating the
traffic aspects of the Markham Street Design Project with the Downtown Study.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1 . The Little Rock Board of Directors hereby endorses the
Markham Street Urban Design Plan with the understanding that a landscaping
and engineering traffic analysis will be completed and reviewed by the
Planning Commission prior to the implementation of the Plan with special
emphasis on the bus loading and unloading requirements of the Camelot and
Old State House.
SECTION 2. The Board of Directors endorses the Plan as an initial step
in the process of developing a unified streetscape and traffic circulation
system for Markham Street between Main and Broadway, and with the above
mentioned reservation.
