HomeMy WebLinkAbout6466 RESOLUTION NO. 6 ,466 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONTINUANCE OF THE CONTRACT ENTERED INTO BY THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK AND THE 4TH PARTY, INC, FOR THE COMPLETION OF PHASE II OF THE DESIGN FOR ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT IN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS , AND ACCEPTING PLAN I OF THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES . WHEREAS , the Board of Directors authorized the City Manager to enter into a contract with the 4th Party, Inc. and appointed an Emergency Medical Service Technical Advisory Committee, each for the purpose of working cooperatively to develop a means to bring State-of-the-Art Paramedic Ambulance Service to Little Rock without requiring the use of local tax dollars for implementation or ongoing subsidies; and WHEREAS , a Preliminary Strategic Design Recommendation for an advanced life support emergency service system in the City of Little Rock has been submitted to the City Board of Directors by the Emergency Medical Service Technical Advisory Committee; and WHEREAS , the submission of this Preliminary Strategic Design concludes Phase I of the contractual agreement between the City of Little Rock and The 4th Party, Inc. NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION I. The City Manager is authorized to continue the contract between the City of Little Rock and The 4th Party, Inc. which shall continue to work cooperatively with the Emergency Medical Service Technical Advisory Committee and pertinent City staff for the purpose of accomplishing Phase II of the development process . Phase II shall include , but not be limited to, the development of specifics .,, r ■ such as ambulance ordinance , contracts , financial proforma and other such mechanical issues prerequisite to the actual implementation of an advanced life support emergency service for the City of Little Rock. SECTION II . The Board of Directors accepts Plan 1 of the Emergency Medical Service Technical Advisory Committee recommendation and , therefore , Phase II of the development process shall be based on the discovery of a feasible means of establishing an ambulance authority. SECTION III . While the City Board of Directors endorses and promotes advanced life support as opposed to basic life support , it reserves the right to review the results of Phase II before rendering a final decision approving the actual method of implementation of State-of-the-Art Paramedic Service for the City of Little Rock, Arkansas .
