A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND ENDORSING A
FIRE PROTECTION MASTER PLANNING PROGRAM;
AND FOR OTHER PURPCS S .
WHEREAS , the City of Little Rock is experiencing the effects of
spiralling inflation as it provides fire protection services for its
citizens; and
VHEREAS, from 1964 to 1979, the Fire Department's service area has
increased 50%, while personnel and stations were increased 12% and 14%
respectively; and
HHEREAS , computer analysis indicates that at least one and possibly
two additional stations are required today to provide a level of service
parallel to that of 1964.
NOW, THEREFORE, RE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS :
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock hereby
authorizes and endorses a Fire Protection Master Planning Program for the
City.
SECTION 2. The Master Plan will result in the planning and
implementation . . . of a general program of action for fire prevention
and control. The Master Plan is reasonably expected to include CO a
survey of the resources and personnel of existing fire services and an
analysis of the effectiveness of the fire and building codes; (2) an
analysis of the short and long term fire prevention control needs; (3)
a plan to meet the fire prevention and control needs; and (4) an estimate
of the costs and realistic plans for financing and implementation of the
plan.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption.
