HomeMy WebLinkAbout6078 RESOLUTION NO. 6,078 A RESOLUTION ENDORSING LEGISLATIVE REFORM FOR GEOGRAPHICAL LIMITATIONS ON THE MOBILITY OF PAROLEES. WHEREAS, the current rate of crime within the City of Little Rock is distressingly high; and WHEREAS, a large percentage of the crimes which are committed within the City of Little Rock are committed by persons on parole from the Arkansas State Penitentiary; and WHEREAS, many of the parolees who now reside in Little Rock formerly resided in other jurisdictions and committed crimes in those jurisdictions; and WHEREAS, the geographical restriction of parolees during the time of their parole to the county in which the crime for which they were sentenced was committed would be beneficial to the City of Little Rock as well as that county. BE IT RESOLVED, THEREFORE, BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS : SECTION 1. That the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas hereby endorses legislative reform which would establish geographical limitations on the mobility of parolees from the Arkansas State Penitentiary to reside and remain in the county in which the crime for which they were incarcerated was committed until their parole has expired.
