A RESOLUTION ENDORSING LEGISLATIVE REFORM FOR
GEOGRAPHICAL LIMITATIONS ON THE MOBILITY OF
PAROLEES.
WHEREAS, the current rate of crime within the City of
Little Rock is distressingly high; and
WHEREAS, a large percentage of the crimes which are committed
within the City of Little Rock are committed by persons on parole
from the Arkansas State Penitentiary; and
WHEREAS, many of the parolees who now reside in Little Rock
formerly resided in other jurisdictions and committed crimes in
those jurisdictions; and
WHEREAS, the geographical restriction of parolees during the
time of their parole to the county in which the crime for which
they were sentenced was committed would be beneficial to the
City of Little Rock as well as that county.
BE IT RESOLVED, THEREFORE, BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS :
SECTION 1. That the Board of Directors of the City of Little
Rock, Arkansas hereby endorses legislative reform which would
establish geographical limitations on the mobility of parolees
from the Arkansas State Penitentiary to reside and remain in the
county in which the crime for which they were incarcerated was
committed until their parole has expired.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
