A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF A PROPOSED STATE
ENABLING ACT FOR STATE-WIDE DRAINAGE SYSTEMS;
ENCOURAGING OTHER MUNICIPALITIES TO JOIN IN
SUPPORT OF THE PROPOSAL; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES .
WHEREAS, due to the serious flooding in Pulaski County
in September, a Commission is needed that would have as its
single responsibility the management of the drainage system in
Pulaski County, and
WHEREAS, since watershed limits transcend political bounda-
ries of cities it is unworkable for each city to handle the project;
and
WHEREAS, it is not cost effective for each government to have
separate organizations with many highcost items of specialized
equipment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS .
SECTION 1. The City of Little Rock supports the concept
of a State Enabling Act for State-wide Drainage Systems.
SECTION 2 . Other municipalities are encouraged to join in
support of this proposal .
SECTION 3 . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
