A RESOLUTION PERTAINING TO THE NEED FOR ADDITIONAL
CONVENTION AND RELATED ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES IN
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS AND THE FUNDING
REQUIREMENTS THEREFOR; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS , it is accepted that additional convention facilities and
hotel accommodations are critical to the economy and welfare of the City
of Little Rock and her people; and
WHEREAS, private enterprise proposes through lease arrangements and
otherwise to join with the City in providing the necessary funds for such
capital improvements and related legal requirements; and
WHEREAS, the City has levied a second 1% tax on the gross receipts
of hotels, motels and restaurants to underwrite the City ' s share of the
cost of said improvements; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors would make known its dedication to
exploring and working for other means and sources of providing the City ' s
portion of the funding for this project so that the said 1% tax can be
reduced and/or eliminated as soon as possible.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock,
Arkansas will explore every feasible means of raising the revenues needed
to fund the City ' s share of the now planned convention and related accom-
modation facilities in the City of Little Rock so as to make possible
the reduction and/or elimination of the levy of the second 1% tax.
SECTION 2 . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption.
