A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS , ENDORSING A
ONE CENT SALES TAX INCREASE TO BE IMPOSED
STATEWIDE AND TURNED BACK TO CITIES AND COUNTIES ;
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS , the quality of community life is directly related
to the quality of services provided by city and county governments ;
and
WHEREAS , the pressures of inflation and the growing demands
for improved services has created a situation of "bankrupt services"
for cities and counties ; and
WHEREAS , the State sales tax is the most feasible means of
increasing State revenues and , when turned back , resulting in
increased revenues to cities and counties .
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS .
SECTION 1 . The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock ,
Arkansas hereby endorses the concept of increasing the State sales
tax by one cent with the revenue of said tax to be turned back by
the State to cities and counties .
SECTION 2 . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
