A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE
EAST BELT FREEWAY BRIDGE; FILING A PETITION TO
INTERVENE IN THE PENDING LAWSUIT TO CONTINUE
CONSTRUCTION; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock is responsible for the pro-
motion of the health and welfare of her citizens; and
WHEREAS, the East Belt Freeway Bridge project will promote
those ends and aid in expanding the economic development of Little Rock
through the Little Rock Port and Industrial Park; and
WHEREAS, all of the long-range plans and expansions underway at
Adams Field, Little Rock Municipal Airport , have been predicated on the
completion on the East Belt Freeway; and
WHEREAS, there is presently litigation pending in the United
States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas , Keenan , Port
of Dardanelle, Inc. vs . United States Coast Guard Admiral O. W. Siler,
Commandant , #LR-3-77-202 , to halt the construction of the aforementioned
bridge.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK, ARKANSAS .
SECTION 1 . The Board of Directors on behalf of the citizens of
Little Rock, hereby endorses the construction of the East Belt Freeway
Bridge.
SECTION 2 . The Board of Directors hereby joins in the petition
of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce to intervene on behalf of the
defendant to assure completion of the bridge as any delay in the con-
struction will result in irreparable harm.
SECTION 3 . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
