HomeMy WebLinkAbout5841 RESOLUTION NO 5,841 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACTS FOR CARPENTRY WORK AT FIRE STATION #10; TRUCKS; HYDRATED LIME; DEMOLITION OF CONDEMNED STRUCTURES; POLICE CLOTHING; EARTHWORK, GRADING AND FILL WORK FOR INTERSTATE PARK; AND REPAIRS TO A PUMPER FIRE TRUCK; WAIVING COMPETITIVE BIDDING; AUTHORIZING PAYMENT; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES WHEREAS , invitation to bid was duly advertised and bids received pursuant thereto according to law for the purchase of 3 1/4 ton trucks, hydrated lime, police clothing, and for renovation work at Fire Station No. 10 , demolition and/or site clearance of 20 condemned structures , earth work, grading and fill work for Interstate Park; and WHEREAS, the lowest responsible and responsive bidders have been determined and it is the desire of the Board of Directors to authorize the purchase of said vehicles and work to be performed from the lowest responsible and responsive bidders; and WHEREAS, the Little Rock Fire Department has lost the use of one of its Pumper trucks and it is urgent that said pumper truck be re- paired by the replacement of its engine and it is therefore desired that competitive bidding be waived for this repair work . NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. SECTION 1. A contract is hereby awarded to Cliff Packer Chevrolet Company for the purchase of three 1/4 ton trucks at a contract price of $11,943 . 90 . A copy of the Abstract of Bids is attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof. Funds for this purchase have been previously allocated in the City Budget. SECTION 2 . A contract is hereby awarded to Arkansas Lime Company for the purchase of hydrated lime, approximately 180 tons , to be delivered as needed at a contract price of $541.20 for ten tons , but not to exceed the amount budgeted for said purchase . A copy of the Abstract of Bids is attached hereto as Exhibit "B" and made a part hereof. Funds for this purchase have been allocated in the City Budget and shall not exceed that said amount. SECTION 3 . Contracts are hereby awarded to those bidders and at the prices shown for the purchase of uniforms for the Little Rock Police Department. The specific items and costs therefor are contained on Exhibit "C" which is attached hereto and made a part hereof the same -2- as though set out herein word for word. Funds for these purchases have previously been allocated for these purchases . SECTION 4 . A contract is hereby awarded to James Construction for carpentry services in the renovation of Fire Station No. 10 . The contract is for an estimated 640 hours at the hourly rate of $23 . 99 per hour . Funds for these services have been previously allocated in the City Budget . A copy of the Abstract of Bids is attached hereto as Exhibit "D" and made a part hereof. SECTION 5 . Contracts are hereby awarded to those bidders and at those prices for the demolition and/or site clearance of twenty condemned structures all as set out on Exhibit "E" attached hereto and made a part hereof, said Exhibit also containing the location of such condemned structures. Funds for such demolition and/or site clearance are available in Community Development Block Grant funds. SECTION 6 . A contract is hereby awarded to M & P Equipment Com- pany for certain earthwork, grading and fill work to be performed at Interstate Park at a contract price of $85, 500 .00 . A copy of the Abstract of Bids is attached hereto as Exhibit "F" and made a part hereof. Funds for this work have been previously allocated in EDA and CDBG funds . SECTION 7 . A contract is hereby awarded to Wilkerson Diesel, Inc. for a rebuilt engine to be placed in a 1961 LaFrance 1000 G.P .M. Pumper at a cost not to exceed $6 , 500 . 00 . Funds for this purchase are available in the Fire Department Budget. Inasmuch as this is an only source of supply, and time is of the essence, competitive bidding is hereby waived. SECTION 8 . All items authorized to be purchased herein, and all work authorized to be performed, shall at all times comply with bidding specifications . Upon receipt of the items and from time to time as deemed necessary, the City Manager and Director of Finance are hereby authorized and directed to issue the necessary warrants in payment of said contract prices . -3-- SECTION 9 .
