HomeMy WebLinkAbout5723 RESOLUTION NO. 5,723 A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE INTENT OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS TO ADOPT THE ORDINANCE CREATING AN HISTORIC DISTRICT AND ESTABLISHING PROCEDURES FOR THE ISSUANCE OF A CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS UPON CONFIRMATION AND APPROVAL OF 51 PERCENT OF THE PROPERTY OWNERS WITHIN THE PROPOSED DISTRICT; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock has created an Historic District Commission; and WHEREAS, said Historic District Commission has made an investigation and report to the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, formerly the Arkansas History Commission and to the Little Rock Planning Commission; and WHEREAS, the Historic District Commission has submitted a final report with its recommendations and a draft of a proposed Ordinance, containing a description of the area of the proposed Historic District, a map showing the exact boundaries of the area to be included in such District, a proposed Ordinance designed to implement the provisions of the Historic District Act, Ark. Stat. Ann. Y 19-5001 , et seq and such other matters as the Commission has deemed necessary and advisable. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS : SECTION 1. That the Historic District Commission shall hold a public hearing on the establishment of a proposed District after giving notice of such hearing by publication in a news- paper of general circulation in the City of Little Rock once a week for three (3) consecutive weeks, the first such publication to be at least twenty (20) days prior to said public hearing. Such notice shall include the time and place of said hearing, specify the purpose and describe the boundaries of the proposed Historic District. SECTION 2. After said public hearing and upon submission to the City Clerk and confirmation at public hearing by the -2- Board of Directors of Petitions signed by 51 percent of the property owners within the proposed Historic District approving the creation of the District, the Ordinance providing for the issuance of Certificates of Appropriateness and agreeing that their property shall be included in such District, the Board of Directors will enact said Ordinance into law.
