A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE PULASKI COUNTY
QUORUM COURT TO LEVY A MOTOR VEHICLE TAX AND
CALL A SPECIAL ELECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF
SUBMITTING THE QUESTION TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS
IN THE COUNTY AS PROVIDED FOR BY ACT 446 OF
1965 , AS AMENDED; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS , the General Assembly of the State of Arkansas by
Act 446 of 1965 has authorized counties and municipalities to levy
a motor vehicle tax for the privilege of using and operating motor
vehicles on public roads and highways subject to approval of the
qualified voters in the area affected; and
WHEREAS , pursuant to Act 372 of 1973 , an amendment to said
Act 446 of 1965 , revenues generated by said motor vehicle tax may
be used for the purpose of purchasing, owning, operating and owning
a public transportation system with all facilities and equipment
useful thereto in providing a public transportation system, in addi-
tion to other uses authorized by law; and
WHEREAS, there is a need for revenues for the purpose of opera-
ting and maintaining a public transportation system for the benefit
of the citizens of Pulaski County.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS .
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock
hereby requests the Pulaski County Quorum Court to levy a motor
vehicle tax and call a special election for the purpose of submitting
the question to the qualified electors for approval as authorized and
provided for by Act 446 of 1965 , as amended.
SECTION 2 . The proceeds from said levy shall be principally
used for the purpose of operating and maintaining a public trans-
portation system with all necessary facilities incident thereto and
otherwise as authorized by law.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption .
