HomeMy WebLinkAbout5295 RESOLUTION NO. 5,295 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE POLICY OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK CONCERNING ANNEXATION. WHEREAS , the City of Little Rock recognizes that a growing urban community has common problems, needs, and opportunities, and WHEREAS, the solution of those common problems and the meeting of those common needs and opportunities are best provided by people working together in a united effort, and WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock realizes its responsibility toward its existing and future citizens to provide responsive government services through orderly growth of the community, and WHEREAS, the present Arkansas law regarding annexation denies the municipalities of this State the opportunity to meet the demands of urban growth. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. SECTION 1. The Board of Directors reaffirms their conviction that the residents of the proposed annexation area are a valued part of the Little Rock Community and strongly supports and encourages the efforts toward voluntary annexation. SECTION 2 . The City Manager is authorized and directed to make available staff assistance and support to residents and property owners supporting voluntary annexation. SECTION 3 . The Board of Directors pledges continued financial support to provide the necessary facilities and extend needed services into areas annexed into the City of Little Rock. SECTION 4 . The Board of Directors supports amendments to Arkansas Statute 19-307. 1 which would allow the municipalities of Arkansas to meet the demands of urban growth. -2-- SECTION 5.
