RESOLUTION NO 5,246
A RESOLUTION CANCELLING THE EXISTING MAINTENANCE
CONTRACT FOR THE COMPUTER SYSTEM SITUATED IN THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT; AUTHORIZING A NEW MAINTENANCE
CONTRACT FOR SAID EQUIPMENT WITH VARIAN DATA
MACHINES; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS .
SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
execute a contract for computer maintenance of the City' s
computer equipment situated in the Police Department with
Varian Data Machines , which contract is in form and substance
as reflected by Exhibit "A" attached hereto.
SECTION 2 . This Resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.

Varian. Data Machines •
As you are aware, we intend to change,from maintenance with Automated
SystemswvCorporation to maintenance•_w_ith Varian Data Machines effective
SeptemberP4 1974. For your review_L•have attached a copy of the
standard terms and conditions which .Varian uses for their. maintenance
agreements.
From my point of view, it appears,. that two clauses need to be added
as follows-
1. Varian Personnel - Due to the sensitive nature of the
information contained within this system, the personnel
• supplied by Varian will be subject to a standard Police
background investigation. The City shall have the right
to reject any individual who, in its opinion, would
jeopardize the security of the system.
2. Contract. Made In Arkansas - This contract shall be
deemed to be made in the State of Arkansas and
governed by the laws thereof. .
I would appreciate your comments regarding this contract. Assuming
positive Board action on July 23, 1974, we would like to have this
completed as soon thereafter as possible.

The City of Little Rock accepts the attached Maintenance Agreement
subject to the inclusion of the following two s_ s:
1. Varian Personnel - Due to the sensitive nature of the
information contained within this system, the personnel
supplied by Varian will be subject to a standard Police
