HomeMy WebLinkAbout5201 RESOLUTION NO 5,201 A RESOLUTION ENDORSING AND RECOMMENDING THE FULL FUNDING ANNUALLY OF THE MODEL CITIES PROGRAM IN LITTLE ROCK , ARKANSAS UNTIL FEDERAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT LEGISLATION IS ENACTED AND FUNDS PRO- VIDED FOR SAME; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES WHEREAS, funds for Model Cities Programs in Little Rock, Arkansas and other Model Cities programs throughout the nation have been reduced to a fifty (50%) percent level for the 1973-1974 fiscal year and will likely be reduced even more for the 1974-1975 fiscal year; and WHEREAS, full funding for the Model Cities Program in Little Rock is vital to the continued health, safety and welfare of the citizens of this community until such time as Federal Community Development legis- lation providing for citizen participation is enacted and funds provided to carry forth the programs therein authorized; and WHEREAS , the City of Little Rock is anxious that the Congress and the Executive Branch of the Government be encouraged and urged to con- tinue annually funding the Model Cities Program in the City of Little Rock at the first year level. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS . SECTION 1. The Congress is respectfully requested to continue funding Model Cities Programs in the City of Little Rock, Arkansas on an annual basis at least on the same level as that of the 1970-1971 fiscal year in the amount of $1 ,902 ,000. 00 and the Executive Branch of the Federal Government is encouraged to support such funding until such time that Federal Community Development legislation, including but without limitation the Citizen Participation Program is duly enacted and becomes law and is fully funded. SECTION 2 . A copy of this Resolution is directed sent to all congressmen and senators representing the State of Arkansas and to the President of the United States . SECTION 3.
