HomeMy WebLinkAbout5113 RESOLUTION NO. 5,113 A RESOLUTION TO EXPRESS THE INTEREST OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK IN ACHIEVING AN EAST WEST EXPRESSWAY BUILT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF PROTECTION OF ENVIRON- MENTAL INTERESTS AND MINIMAL DISRUPTION TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE COMMUNITY WHEREAS, certain individuals by an action filed in the United States District Court at Little Rock in case #LR 73 C-292 against the United States Department of Transportation and the Arkansas State Highway Commission have expressed their concern for the effect that the Wilbur Mills Freeway will have on the community; and, WHEREAS, the completion and the manner of completion of said Interstate Highway is of considerable significance to the City of Little Rock and all of Arkansas; and, WHEREAS, the City is most interested to protect the rights of all citizens under all laws and yet is most anxious to have said Interstate Highway completed at the earliest feasible time. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The City of Little Rock hereby reiterates its long-standing interest in the completion of 1-630 (Wilbur Mills Expressway) in the City of Little Rock at the earliest feasible time consistent with an assurance that the adverse environmental effect of the construction of the freeway and the disruption of the lives of the residents of the City of Little Rock will be as minimal as possible. SECTION 2 . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption. ADOPTED: December 18, 1973 ATTEST: APPROVED: L(f City Clerk Mayor
