RESOLUTION NO. 5,112
A RESOLUTION TO REITERATE THE INTEREST
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK IN COMPLETING
I-630 (WILBUR MILLS EXPRESSWAY); AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES .
WHEREAS , an action has been filed in the United States District
Court at Little Rock (#LR 73 C-292 against the United States Department of
Transportation and the Arkansas State Highway Commission) seeking to
enjoin the completion of Interstate Highway 630 (Wilbur Mills Freeway) as
presently planned; and,
WHEREAS , the completion of said Interstate Highway is vital to the
continued economic growth of the City of Little Rock and is of great importance
to the commerce and total transportation program of central Arkansas; and,
WHEREAS, the City realizing the importance of this transportation
facility and having considered the rights and convenience of all citizens in
Greater Little Rock is most anxious to have said Interstate Highway completed
and opened to traffic at the earliest possible time, so as to provide for the
rapid movement of people and goods.
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS .
SECTION 1 . The City of Little Rock hereby reiterates its position of
long standing, firmly supporting the earliest completion possible of construction
of this most important transportation facility between I-30 and I-430 with the
same vigor and enthusiasm as demonstrated in the early stages of planning
and right of way acquisition.
SECTION 2 . The City of Little Rock as a matter of public policy has
always attempted to give full consideration to the rights of individuals involved
in planning for the whole community, and the City pledges to continue this
policy so that all individual rights will be adequately considered and protected
under the laws of the State of Arkansas and of the United States of America.

SECTION 3 . The City of Little Rock is hereby authorized to intervene
in the aforesaid action against the United States Department of Transportation
and the Arkansas State Highway Commission for the purpose of fully supporting
this State and Nation in this undertaking to provide this additional and vital
traffic artery for this City, while maintaining inviolate the lawful rights of
all citizens of this City.
SECTION 4 . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after its adoption.
