HomeMy WebLinkAbout4527 RESOLUTION NO. 4,527 A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO MINNIE LEE STAMP (nee CORNELIUS) FOR THE GENEROUS GIFT OF LANDS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF RIVER MOUNTAIN PARK. WHEREAS, Minnie Lee Stamp (nee Cornelius) of La Jolla, California has generously dedicated 16 acres of valuable land in memorial of the Park family and the Cornelius family to the City of Little Rock for the eventual development of a park; and WHEREAS, this tract of land along with other tracts to be assembled will enable the City to develop a community park that will provide many varied types of recreational opportunities to young and old immediately and in the future, in a forested landscape in company with other forms of nature that will bring relief from worry and toil to the citizens of this area; and WHEREAS, a woodland environment preserved in this section of our City will increasingly become more important to this City, providing a stimulating environment to mind and body; and WHEREAS, parks lands properly located and developed create an atmosphere that encourages orderliness and stability; and WHEREAS, the quality of life in urban areas is increasingly becoming more complex and open space and parks provide for a fuller and more satisfactory life to its citizens. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The Board of Directors for and on behalf of the citizens of this community would by this Resolution, express sincere appreciation to Minnie Lee Stamp (nee Cornelius) and accept with gratitude, the valuable lands dedicated to the City. SECTION 2. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption. ADOPTED: March 1, 1971 ATTEST: APPROVED: / fALL11-/ City Clerk Mayor
