A RESOLUTION URGING THE ADOPTION OF THE LOCATION
AND .ALIGNMENT OF INTERSTATE 430 AS PROPOSED BY
THE ARKANSAS HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT; AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES
WHEREAS, it has come to the knowledge of the Board of
Directors of the City of Little Rock that in some quarters
consideration is being given to displacing Interstate 430
from its presently proposed alignment, and
WHEREAS, this Board of Directors feels strongly that a
major change in the planned alignment of Interstate 430 would
not be in the best interest of the City; and
WHEREAS, the present alignment of Interstate 430 conforms
with the City' s Master Street Plan which plan establishes the
City' s primary and collector streets system; and
WHEREAS, the present alignment of Interstate 430 conforms
with the planned land use of the area involved which is generally
being developed according to the Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Little Rock Planning Commission has approved
subdivision layouts and the development of land from ome mile
south of Markham Street to the river based on the presently
proposed alignment of Interstate 430; and
WHEREAS, the presently proposed alignment of Interstate
430 follows that set forth in the City' s Comprehensive
Development Plan which plan has been approved as a guide for
the development of the City,
WHEREAS, developers in subject area have already dedicated
a 100 foot strip of land for the roadway right-of-way and have
reserved the required additional land for roadway and the
interchanges; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of this Board of Directors that
the presently proposed alignment of Interstate 430 is the best
for the area it serves and best for the City as a whole; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The Arkansas State Highway Commission is hereby
requested to consider carefully and weigh the merits as
presented above of the presently proposed alignment of Interstate
430.

SECTION 2. This Board of Directors, to the extent
that its opinion and judgment may be of value to the
Arkansas Highway Commission in the premises, strongly
urges and recommends that the location of Interstate
430 be firmly established in the location heretofore
presented, and that no change or alteration in the proposed
location be effected.
