A RESOLUTION URGING THE LITTLE ROCK CITIZENS
TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMISSION TO UNDERTAKE TRAFFIC
EDUCATION WITH REGARD TO PEDESTRIAN SAFETY;
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, it has come to the knowledge of the Board
of Directors that the operators of motor vehicles in the
City of Little Rock tend to disregard pedestrian crossings
and otherwise impede the safe and orderly flow of pedestrian
traffic within intersections; and,
WHEREAS, precedent to the strict inforcement of
traffic laws it is felt that education of the public should
be undertaken in an effort to obtain voluntary compliance
with the law,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The Little Rock Citizens Traffic Safety
Commission is hereby requested and urged to undertake a
program of education designed to acquaint the motoring public
with the applicable rules and regulations pertaining to
pedestrian right of way and pedestrian safety.
SECTION 2. That following such efforts on the part
of the Little Rock Citizens Traffic Safety Commission it is
hoped that it will be unnecessary to strictly enforce the
provisions of the Traffic Code pertaining to pedestrian cross-
walks and other rights of way in order to gain substantial
compliance therewith by the motoring public.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force
and effect from and after its adoption.
