HomeMy WebLinkAbout2601 REsOLU'TION NO. 2601 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT TO BARRICADE A PORTION OF ROCK STREET IN ITS DISCRETION; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS , the Arkansas State Highway Commission and the United States Bureau of Public Roads has expressed an intention to construct and erect an elevated roadway over and above a certain portion of Rock Street in the City of Little Rock, Arkansas; and WHEREAS, said ramp or roadway may because of its construction con- stitute a traffic hazard and endanger the lives and safety of citizens of the City of Little Rock and the public generally; and WHEREAS,it is the desire of the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, that the State Highway Department be authorized to take such precautions as are necessary to protect the citizens of Little Rock and the public generally from any hazard in connection with traffic on Rock Street during and after the construction and erection of said roadway; NOW THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The State Highway Department is hereby authorized to exercise its sound discretion in protecting the citizens of Little Rock and the public generally from traffic hazards in connection with the construction and erection of an elevated roadway or ramp running in a general East-West direction and One Hundred Forty Feet (140 ') wide over a portion of Rock Street lying immediately South of the inter- section of Rock Street and Second Street, and said Highway Department is specifically authorized hereby, upon the commencement of construction of said elevated roadway or ramp, to barricade, or otherwise obstruct, vehicular traffic on a portion of Rock Street between the intersection of Rock Street and the South curb line of -econd street on the North and a point on Rock Street One Hundred Forty Feet (140 ' ) South of said South curb line of Second Street, and to deny access to said portion of Rock Street to vehicular and pedestrian traffic . q • -2- SECTION 2.
