A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE LOW BID OF ARTIE GREGORY CONTRACTOR,
INC. , IN THE AMOUNT OF FIVE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED FORTY-EIGHT
AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($5,548.00) FOR THE PAVING OF THE PARKING
LOT AT THE POLICE AND COURTS BUILDING IN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK;
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE
AN AGREEMENT WITH THE ARTIE GREGORY CONTRACTOR, INC. FOR THE SAID
PAVING; AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS; AND
FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS , invitation for bids for the paving of the Parking Lot
at the Police and Courts Building has been legally published; and
WHEREAS, the bids have been received and opened pursuant to said
advertisement; and
WHEREAS, the bid of Artie Gregory Contractor, Inc. , is the lowest
bid submitted therefor; and
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock desires to award the contract
for the said paving to Artie Gregory Contractor, Inc. ; and
WHEREAS, the City has previously appropriated certain sums of
money from the 1958 Bond Construction Funds for this project; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock desires
to authorize the expenditure of Five Thousand Five Hundred Forty-Eight
and No/100 Dollars ($5 ,548 .00) from the Public Buildings Construction
Fund, Project 30, previously appropriated;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The low bid of Artie Gregory Contractor, Inc. , in the
amount of Five Thousand Five Hundred Forty-Eight and No/100 Dollars
($5,548.00) for the paving of the Parking Lot at the Police and Courts
Building in the City of Little Rock is hereby accepted.
SECTION 2. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and
directed to enter into and execute an Agreement on behalf of the City
of Little Rock, Arkansas, with Artie Gregory Contractor, Inc. , for the
said paving project, which Agreement shall be in form and words as
follows:

THIS CONTRACT AND AGREEMENT, Made and entered into this 29 day of
June , 19 60, by and between Artie Gregory
Contractor, Inc.
Party of the First Part; and City of Little Rock, Arkansas
Party of the Second Part, WITNESSETH:
That for and in consideration of the payment to be made as hereinafter
set forth, the Party of the First Part hereby agrees to furnish all tools,
labor, equipment, and materials, and to build and construct
Police and Cnurtc Building parking lots
in exact accord with the Plans on file in the office of the City
Clerk and Director of Public Works , Little Rock, Arkansas, designated
as "Police and Courts Building Parking LotiO4 with the copy of said
Plans, Specifications and Proposal being attached hereto and made a
part hereof as fully as though copied in full herein, under the direct
supervision, and to the entire satisfaction of the Director of Public
Works of the City of Little Rock , subject to inspection at all times
in accordance with the laws of the State of Arkansas.
It is agreed and understood between the parties hereto that the Party of
the First Part agrees to accept and the Party of the Second Part agrees
to pay for the work at the prices stipulated in said Proposal, such pay-
ment to be in lawful money of The United States, and the payment shall
be made at the time and in the manner set forth in the Specifications.
The Party of the First Part agrees, for the consideration above express-
ed, to begin work within ten days after being ordered to begin work by
the Engineer, and to complete the work within fourteen
( 14 ) days. If the Party of the First Part shall fail to
complete the work in the time herein specified, he shall pay to the Party
of the Second Part, as liquidated damages, ascertained and agreed, and
not in the nature of a penalty, the sum of One dollar
($ 1.00 ) for each day delayed,
which shall be deducted from the final amount of estimate made by the
Contractor.

SECTION 3. There is hereby authorized and approved the expendi-
ture of the sum of Five Thousand Five Hundred Forty-Eight and No/100
Dollars ($5,548.00) from the Public Buildings Construction Fund, Pro-
ject 30, payable to Artie Gregory Contractor, Inc. , for the paving
of the Parking Lot at the Police and Courts Building, which sum has
previously been appropriated.
SECTION 4. The City Manager and Director of Finance are hereby
authorized and directed to execute the necessary warrants in payment
of moneys approved in Section 3 hereof.
SECTION 5. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
