HomeMy WebLinkAbout2442 • RESOLUTION NO. 2442 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A CERTAIN INSTRUMENT CHANGING CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF LEASE NO. NOy(R)-40497 BETWEEN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA RELATING TO THE NAVY AND MARINE CORPS RESERVE TRAINING CENTER LOCATED ON JONESBORO DRIVE AT 8TH STREET; AND •FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, on the 13th day of September, 1946, a lease was executed between the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, and the United States of America, pursuant to Resolution No. 1719 , dated September 9 , 1946; and WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock in Resolution No. 1775 , adopted December 29 , 1947 , provided that certain additional property be in- cluded in said lease and that any surfaced area for parking could be used by the general public when not being used as a drill area by the United States Navy or Marine Corp ; and WHEREAS, the modification of Lease No. NOy(R)-40497 contained no such provision allowing parking by the general public when same was not being used as a drill area by the United States Navy or Marine Corp ; and WHEREAS, it is now desired by the parties to the said lease that the United States of America shall have the right to allow use of the premises by (i) other federal agencies and (ii) use by persons and organizations promoting or providing public entertainment, social functions, recreation, amateur athletic contests or activities, and demonstrations or enterprises of educational, religious, or civic welfare nature; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute a modification of Lease No. NOy(R)-40497 between the City of Little Rock and the United States of America amending Paragraph 4 of the said lease by the addition of the following at the end thereof: "The Government, however, shall have the right to allow use of the demised premises by (i) other Federal Agencies and (ii) use by persons and organizations promoting or r -2- providing public entertainment, social functions, recreation , amateur athletic contests or activities, and demonstrations or enterprises of educational, religious, or civic welfare nature.'
