HomeMy WebLinkAbout2384 RESOLUTION NO. 2384 A RESOLUTION GRANTING THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA OR ITS ASSIGNS THE PRIVILEGE TO EXCAVATE AND USE CERTAIN SPACE BENEATH THE STREET SURFACE OF GAINES STREET BETWEEN FOURTH AND FIFTH STREETS IN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING AND MAINTAINING A PASSAGEWAY UNDER GAINES STREET CONNECTING THE NEW FEDERAL OFFICE BUILDING TO BE CONSTRUCTED AND THE EXISTING POST OFFICE AND FEDERAL OFFICE BUILDING; PROVIDING SPECIFICATIONS FOR SAID PASSAGEWAY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The United States of America or its assigns is hereby granted the privilege to excavate and use certain space beneath the street surface of Gaines Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets in the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, for the purpose of constructing and maintaining a passageway under Gaines Street connecting the New Federal Office Building to be constructed and the existing Post Office and Federal Office Building. The property to be used for said passageway is described as follows : Being a certain piece or parcel of land situated between city blocks 126 and 179 , City of Little Rock, County of Pulaski, State of Arkansas, located in Gaines Street according to the Map or Plat thereof in the Map Records of Pulaski County, and more particularly described as follows, to-wit : Commencing at the intersection of the North property line of Capitol Avenue and the West property line of Gaines Street; thence North 06 degrees 57 minutes 30 seconds East 61.48 feet along and to a point in the West property line of Gaines Street; said pro- perty line being the same as the East line of Block 179 , and being the point or place of beginning; Thence South 83 degrees 02 minutes 30 seconds East 59.51 feet to a point for corner; said corner being in the West line of Block 126; Thence North 06 degrees 30 minutes 00 seconds East 15 .00 feet to a point for corner in the West line of Block 126; Thence North 83 degrees 02 minutes 30 seconds West 59 .39 feet to a point for corner in the East line of Block 179 ; Thence South 06 degrees 57 minutes 30 seconds West 15 .00 feet to the point or place of beginning and containing 891 .74 square feet of land. SECTION 2. Said under ground passageway shall be constructed of reinforced concrete and shall have an overall width of eight (3) • _.y • feet three (3) inches and an overall height of nine (9) feet eight (0) inches. A twelve (12) inch crushed stone base course shall support the structure at a maximum depth at elevation 310.50. Maxi- mum elevation of passageway under roadway shall be 321.16. Maximum roadway elevation above structure is 324.39 . SECTION 3 . The City of Little Rock retains the right to revoke this franchise at any time said land is needed for public purposes and the United State of America or its assigns shall be required to remove the improvements from said area and shall be required to pay all costs attendant with the abandonment and removal of the improvements from said area.
