RESOLUTION NO. 237 .
A RESOLUTION FIXING A DATE, TIME AND PLACE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING
ON THE PROPOSAL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK TO CLOSE, VACATE
AND ABANDON ALL OF THAT PORTION OF NORTH GAINES STREET LOCATED
BETWEEN LA HARPE BOULEVARD AND WEST MARKHAM STREET IN THE CITY
OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION OF NOTICE
OF SAID PUBLIC HEARING; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES .
WHEREAS , the City proposes to construct a Police & Courts Building
to be located on a site which includes portions of Block 122 and
Block 136, Original City of Little Rock, which blocks are separated
by North. Gaines Street; and
WHEREAS , the City desires to vacate, close and abandon North Gaines
Street which separates Block 122 and Block 135, Original City of
Little Rock, said street being located between La Harpe Boulevard
and West Markham Street in the City of Little Rock; and
WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock is the sole owner of all real
property located adjacent to the said part of North Gaines Street
in Block 122 and Block 136, Original City of Little Rock; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the said City feels that
said part of North Gaines Street is no longer needed for municipal
purposes but desires that all persons who may object to the closing
of said street be heard; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS :
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock
hereby declares that a public hearing shall be had in the Board
of Directors ' Chamber, Little Rock City Hall, at 7 :30 P .M. on
July 20, 1959, at which time all persons objecting to the closing
of that part of North Gaines Street between La Harpe Boulevard and
West Markham Street can be heard.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall publish a notice of the public
hearing, provided for in Section 1 hereof, twice for two consecutive
weeks in some newspaper of general circulation in the County.

SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and, effect
from and after its adoption.
