A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS TO COOPERATE JOINTLY WITH PULASKI COUNTY, THE CITY
OF NORTH LITTLE ROCK, THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, AND OTHER
PUBLIC BODIES OPERATING IN PULASKI COUNTY, ARKANSAS, IN THE
PLANNING OF THE METROPOLITAN AREA COMPRISING THE COUNTY AND
THE COOPERATING CITIES.
WHEREAS,
The General Assembly of the State of Arkansas has enacted a law enabling political
subdivisions to cooprate jointly in area planning; and
WHEREAS,
The City of Little Rock recognizes the need for joint cooperation in area planning
as provided in this law; and
WHEREAS,
The people of the City of Little Rock will benefit through the planned development,
as a whole, of the metropolitan area of which the City of Little Rock is a part, and
WHEREAS,
A program of metropolitan area planning under joint cooperation can eliminate
planning duplication, promote economy and efficiency in the coordinated development
of the area; and promote the general welfare and prosperity of all the people:
NOWJTHEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, That the
City of Little Rock cooperate jointly with Pulaski County, the City of North Little
Rock, the City of Jacksonville, and other public bodies in Pulaski County,
Arkansas, in the planning of the metropolitan area comprising the County and the
cooperating cities;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City of Little Rock, under provisions of
Act 26 of the 1955 Assembly of the State of Arkansas, authorizing such joint
cooperation in area planning, join with Pulaski County, North Little Rock, and
Jacksonville and other public bodies in Pulaski County to establish and maintain
a Metropolitan Area Planning Commission.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City of Little Rock enter into an Agreement
with Pulaski County, the City of North Little Rock and the City of Jacksonville for
joint cooperation in area planning and the establishment of a Metropolitan Area
A Planning Commission, as provided in Act 26 of the 1955 Assembly of the State of
Arkansas.
