HomeMy WebLinkAbout2032 RESOLUTION NO. 2032 A RESOLUTION TO INVESTIGATE THE ESTABLISHING OF WATER RATES FOR THE LITTLE ROCK MUNICIPAL WATERWORKS COIBIIS- SION AND PROVIDING FOR A STUDY BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK TO DETERMINE JUST AND EQUITABLE RATES TO RAISE A SUM SUFFICIENT TO ENABLE THE LITTLE ROCK MUNICIPAL WATERWORKS COMMISSION TO PROCEED TO OB- TAIN ITS SUFFICIENT SUPPLY OF WATER FOR THE CITY OF LITTTF: ROCK, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock is a rapidly expanding residential and industrial community; and WHEREAS, a need exists for an increased water supply in order that river water need not be used during peak consump- tion periods; and WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of the Little Rock Munic- ipal Waterworks Commission to make the necessary studies to de- termine the most feasible method of obtaining additional water supplies; and WHEREAS, these studies have been made, the availability of the additional supply of water has been found, and the method of obtaining same has been determined by the Little Rock Munic- ipal Waterworks Commission; and WHEREAS, it is the duty of the City Council of the City of Little Rock to determine fair, equitable, and just rates to be charged the consumer for said water to be delivered from the available sources with sufficient amount to obtain the additional supply; and WHEREAS, the Little Rock Municipal Waterworks Commission has submitted a rate schedule along with a proposed method of obtain- ing the additional supply, which proposals in all respects have been considered by the City Council of the City of Little Rock, and the City Council, in order that it might protect the best interest of the people of the City of Little Rock, finds need for an examination by an independent rate consultant to deter- mine whether they are fair and just rates to finance equitably the needed expansion: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS : -2- SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Little Rock, acting as a Committee of the Whole, shall employ the nec- essary personnel to make a rate study and determine rates to be charged the consuming public in order that a sum of money sufficient to finance the proposed acquisition of an additional supply of water sufficient for the needs of the people of the City of Little Rock can be obtained by the Little Rock Municipal Waterworks Commission. SECTION 2. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
