RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE GREATER LITTLE ROCK COMMUNITY CHEST
AND PROCLAIMING OCTOBER RED FEATHER MONTH
IN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK
WIEBEASI The Comity Chest, through the activities of its 29 confederated
agencies, reaches and benefits directly or indirectly every strata of society
in Greater Little Rock, and,
WHEREAS, The Community Chest because (1) of its elimination of waste, effort
and money by consolidation of many drives for funds into one drive; (2) of the
assurance it offers to the citizens of the community that the funds raised will be
expended for the purposes they were contributed, and in a wise and impartial
manner; (3) it offers the best medium for the effective use of the constructive
efforts of many public spirited citizens in continuous planning for the betterment
of the community in which they live; and (4) it is a true and concrete expression
that the people of Greater Little Rock are vitally interested in the welfare and
well-being of one another, and,
WHEREAS, for these reasons the Community Chest plan embodies the highest
ideals and purposes of the democratic way of life, and is an exemplary illustration
of that democracy in action, and,
WHEREAS, the Red Feather has been adopted nationally as a symbol of
Community Chest and its activities,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the city council of the city of Little Rock
that the month of the Red Feather Campaign, October, be designated Red Feather
month for all citizens of Little Rock;
AND, THEREFORE, be it further resolved by the city council of the city of
Little Rock that the city council wholeheartedly endorses the Red Feather appeal
and the principles inherent in the Community Chest;
AND, THEREFORE, be it further resolved that the city council of the city of
Little Rock hereby urges all citizens to support the Red Feather campaign to the
best of their separate abilities in order that all Community Chest activities
may be carried out with renewed vigor and assurance for the betterment of all
citizens of Greater Little Rock.
