A RESOLUTION URGING TUE COUNTY JUDGE OF PULAS '_I CODUTti TO
PROCEED UNDER ACT 10 OF THE ACTS OF THE LEGISLATURE OF 1951
TO CALL FOR A VOTE OF THE EQUALIZATION OF PROPERTY TAX
ASSESSUENTS; FAVORING A UEETING OF THE U,'.iA OR AND CITY COUNCIL
WITH THE COUNTY JUDGE IN RELATION =RETO; AND FOP.. OTHER
PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, local political subdivisions of govern�:_ent in
America receive from 80 to 85 per cent of total Pevenues from the ad
valorem tax field; and
JHEREAS, the ad valorem tax area produced slightly more than
17 per cent of the total income of the city government of Little Rock
for the tax year of 1951; and
UEREAS, an equal distribution of the tax load in the ad
valorem area is the equitable method of paying for the expenses of
local goverment; and
WHEREAS , equalization of property 'tax assessments Gould
nate pressures on. the Mate Legislature for additional taxation from
the"nuisance' tax field, and from local sources already over-burdened
with heav;;- U:ederal, State, and City taxation; and
WHEREAS, A county citizens committee, representing a cross-
section of the political, social , economic and civic life of the county,
has filed petitions Lit . Lhe county judge calling for a vote by the
citizens of this county on equalization of real and personal property
tax assess .cents; THEREFOTZE,
BE IT RESOLVED, That the iIa.yor and Aldermen of the City of
Little Rock urge the county judge to proceed under the terms as set out
in Act 10 of the 1951 Extraordinary Session of the General Assembly;
