HomeMy WebLinkAbout1933 RESOLUTION NO. 1933 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HIGHWAY CONMISSION OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS TO REMOVE MARKERS PLACED BY THEM ALONG CERTAIN STREETS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. WHEREAS the Arkansas State Highway Commission has placed markers along certain streets of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, for the purpose of marking such streets as a truck route through the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, and WHEREAS such streets are now no longer a designated truck route through the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, as provided in Section 2 of Ordinance No. 6515, and WHEREAS by Ordinance No. 8951 the City Council of the City of L. ttle Rock has designated certain streets as a truck route through the City of Little Rock, and WHEREAS such markers are confusing to people in following the true truck route through the City of Little Rock; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS : That the Arkansas State Highway Commission be requested to remove from the following streets of the City of Little Rock their markers designating U. S. Highway 65 as a truck route, which is from and along the following streets :- From Broadway to Rock Street on 11th Street; from 11th to 21st Street on Rock Street; from Rock Street to Barber Street on East 21st Street; t pence South on Barber Street to its junction with U.S. Highway No. 65 on Roosevelt Road. That at the present time the noise from the operation of trucks along this route has become prohibitive and detrimental to the health, peace, quiet and well-being of the citizens living along said streets and it is therefore declared that an emergency exists and that this resolution is necessary for the immediate -G- preservation of the public peace, health and safety and that this resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
