A RESOLUTION EXTENDING AN INVITATION TO GENERAL DOUGLAS MacARTHUR TO VISIT IN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK; PROVIDING FOR A RECEPTION; PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A COMMITTEE THEREFOR; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, General Douglas MacArthur, one of the world's foremost citizens was born in the City of Little Rock, and WHEREAS, The citizens of Little Rock and of the State of Arkansas are justly proud of his heroic life and actions, and WHEREAS, General Douglas MacArthur is now visiting in the United States and is making appointment for visiting various snots of interest to his childhood, and WHEREAS, The City of Little Rock is desirous of having an official visit from General MacArthur and offer its recognition of his greatness; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Mayor of the City of Little Rock be directed to appoint a committee from the City Council to meet with a committee of the Chamber of Commerce and other organizations to work out plans for the General' s visit , and that the Mayor of the City of Little Rock be directed to send a telegram to General MacArthur, officially inviting him to visit the place of his birth, and that a City-wide celebration be undertaken for the reception of the General and his family.
