HomeMy WebLinkAbout1828 RESOLUTION NO. 1828 A RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MAKE A SURVEY OF THE AREA BOUNDED BY TEST TWENTY-THIRD STREET, ASHER AVENUE, CEDAR, AND WASHINGTON STREETS TO DETERMINE THE COSTS OF PROVIDING ADEQUATE DRAINAGE FACILITIES THEREIN; AND FOR OTHER PURP CS ES, WHEREAS: The drainage facilities in the area, bounded by 23rd Street on the North and Asher Avenue on the South - by Cedar Street on the East and Washington on the West$, is inadequate in normal weather and- WHEREAS: during heavy rains, water floods a large area due to the fact that there is not an outlet large enough to carry the load, causing property loss and inconvenience tc the residents of this 0 area and- WHEREAS: due to the lack of these drainage facilities, � s flood watere actually backs into the bath tubs, sinks, commodes etco, 0 of these homes, and I " ` cn WHEREAS : after normal or heavy rains, water stands for I ap days, thereby creating a health hazard by the accumulation of filth and debris and providing a breeding ground for disease carrying mos quitoes- THEREFORE- HE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of Little Rock, Ark- ansas, instruct the City Engineer to have this area surveyed, estimate the cost of covered drainage facilities to adequately drain this and above areas and report his findings and recommendations to this Council no later • than the second Monday of April, ADOPTED: February 21, 1949 ATTEST: APPROVED: tit,ALtu. 1 City Clerk.
