WHEREAS, on July 11th, 1946 , the City of Little
Rock, Arkansas, duly notified the Arkansas Louisiana Gas Com-
pany of its intention to purchase its Little Rock Gas Distri-
bution System for the just compensation and damages according
to law; and
WHEREAS, more than thirty days ' Notice of a public
hearing has been duly advertised, setting the date of August
12th, 1946, for said hearing before the City Council of the
City of Little Rock, Arkansas , to determine the advisability
of said 'ity acquiring said Listribution System; and
WHEREAS, at said public hearing all persons desiring
to speak were permitted to express their views, and after hear-
ing the respective arguments of the proponents and opponents
of the proposed acquisition, it appeared to be to the best in-
terests of the citizens of the City that the Gas Distribution
system be purchased: NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That it is hereby determined by a vote of the
City 'ouncil of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, that the
City acquire the Little Kock Gas Distribution 'ystem cf the
Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company.
SECTION 2. That the Mayor and Board of Waterworks Commission-
ers of the Little Rock Municipal Waterworks be and they are
hereby authorted and directed to take all steps necessary, in-
cidental and convenient to acquire said Gas Distribution system;
to employ auditors , attorneys , engineers and all others necess-
ary for said purchase; to provide for the sale of bonds payable
solely out of the net revenues of the Gas System and secured
by a mortgage on the Gas System and property and pledge of the
gas revenues; and for the execution and delivery of all in-

struments necessary or incidental to the purchase of said sys-
tem.
SECTION 3. That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized and
directed to call a especial Election for ratification or reject-
ion of the City c'ouncil' s determination to acquire the Little
Rock Gas Listribution System by the electors of the City; and
that the Mayor be and re i s hereby authorized and directed to
advertise and direct the conduct of said election according to
law.
SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect and be in force
from and after its passage .
