A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE INTEREST OF THE CITY COUNCIL IN THE
FOURCHE LAKE PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE FOURCHE LAKE COMMITTEE
TO TAKE CERTAIN FURTHER ACTION IN CONNECTION THEREurITH.
WHEREAS : The Mayor has heretofore appointed the- Fourche
Lake Committee to investigate the feasibility of creating a lake
in the Fourche Creek District , and,
WHEREAS ; The Committee has found by preliminary survey that
such a project is feasible and is possible within the resources of
the City, and,
WHEREAS : A lake in the Fourche Creek District holds such merit
and such possibilities for health control, for recreation and other
worthwhile advantages to the citizens of Little Rock that a detailed
investigation should be made by various technical experts, so that
the City of Little Rock may be in a position_ to obtain the maximum
advantages therefrom, now therefore :
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS :
SECTION 1. The City Council 'hereby approves the preliminary
report of the Fourche Lake Committee and declares its profound interest
in such a project and hereby announces its desire to see the proposed
Fourche Lake created, if such is found to be feasible and can be
done without pledging the general credit of the City or utilizing
the general funds of the City.
SECTION 2. The Fourche Lake Committee is hereby requested to
obtain more detailed information as to the specific problems
involved in the creation of Fourche Lake and to report their findings
to this City Council . For such purposes and for any other action
that may hereafter be taken_ by the Fourche Lake Committee, as it
may be now or hereafter constiuted, the Mayor and the Fourche Lake
Committee are hereby authorized to obtain and employ any and all
professional services that the Committee may consider necessary
or desirable in the formulation or execution of plans and specifi-
cations ; provided however, that the City shall incur no liability

for such services , and such services shall be recompensed only
out of money that may eventually be realized for the general
purposes of the Fourche Lake Project.
