A RESOLUTION DIRECTING A SURVEY OF THOSE STREETS IN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK IN NEED OF RESURFACING AND DECLARING A POLICY WITH REGARD TO THE CITY'S ASSISTING IN THE RESURFACING OF SAME. WHEREAS , various streets throughout the City of Little Rock, Arkansas are in need of resurfacing, and WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock, F'-rkansas does not now have adequate funds with which to resurface said streets, and WHEREAS , the City of Little Rock is anxious to encourage the citizens of this City to resurface said streets, now therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS : SECTION 1. The City Engineer is hereby directed to prepare a survey of the streets in the City of Little Rock, Arkansas that are in need of resurfacing. Said survey shall set out the relative importance to the City of Little Rook and the need for resurfacing of the streets involved. SECTION 2. In order to assist in the resurfacing of such streets as may be determined to be in need of resurfacing, the City hereby declares and establishes a policy of being willing to assist in the resurfacing of said streets on the following basis : (a) The City shall determine what streets shall be resurfaced and in what order said streets shall be resurfaced. (b) Any resurfacing work that is done in compliance with this policy shall be done on plans and specifications approved by the City, and the City shall have no responsibility whatever unless the completed job is approved and accepted by the City Engineer. (c ) All work done shall be done in complete compliance with the laws of the United States of America, the laws of the State of Arkansas and the ordinances of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas. (d) The City shall have no responsibility in the prepara- tion of the plans or specifications , or in the performance of work other than that voluntarily assumed in each case. (e ) In order to encourage such work, the City declares itself to be willing to pay up to twenty-five per cent of the costs of such work; provided, however, the total annual expenses to the City of Little hock, and such work shall not exceed fifty thousand dollars per year. (f ) Each separate contract or agreement for the resurfacing of such streets shall be approved by the Little Rock City Council. (g ) The City reserves the right to change the above provisions or to make new or different provisions and to promulgate such rules and regulations as it may deem advisable in the making of any such contracts.
