RESOLUTION NO. 1620
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE OFFER OF THE CITY CLERK TO ESTABLISH A
PAYROLL DEDUCTION AND FILE RECORD SYSTEM FOR THE PURCHASE OF UNITED
STATES WAR SAVINGS BONDS AND STAMPS BY THE ELECTED OFFICIALS AND
EMPLOYES OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK , ARKANSAS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS , the successful prosecution of the war in which the
United States of America is now involved requires the efforts of
every citizen who is financially able in the purchase of United States
War Savings Bonds end Stamps; and
WHEREAS , everyone re ^ula rly employed by the City of Little
Rock should have an opportunity to invest in such war savin7 s bonds
and stamps; and
WHEREAS , the City Clerk of the City of Little Rock , as a
member of the Pulaski County WWI' Savings Staff and Chairman of the
City Employes Group , has , through the system of purchase by the
employes previously established, sold many thousands of dollars in
such bonds and stamps to the employes of the City ; and
WHEREAS , the City Clerk has presented another plan through
a payroll deduction that should stimulate the interest in and augment
the sales of such bonds and stamps among the employes of the City
and has offered to maintain a. file record system thereof for the
benefit of the employes and without additional cost to the City ;
NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK , ARKANSAS :
SECTION 1. That the offer of the City Clerk to establish
a payroll deduction system for the convenience of the Elected Officials
and Employes of the City of Little Rock desiring to participate in
the purchase of War Savings Bonds and Stamps , be accepted.
SECTION 2. That deductions for said purposes be made from
the City payroll_ now being paid on the Fifth day of each month in
amounts of $6. 25 or multiples thereof , and that the said amounts
accumulated thereby be returned to the owner in United States War
Savings Bonds and/or Stamps only.
SECTION 3. That all employes of the City be u_r'ed to pur-
chase such bonds and stamps in this manner , if convenient , and each

department head is requested to promote such sales among the employes
of his respective department to the end that the patriotism and
loyalty of the employes of the City to the United States of America
be reflected in total purchases , if possible , of more than the ten
per cent asked by the Government.
