HomeMy WebLinkAbout1553 RESOLUTION NO. 1553 WHEREAS, On the twenty-ninth day of December, 1940, Charles J. Craig departed this life, and WHEREAS, Charles J. Craig was a member of the City Council of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas , and WHEREAS, He had been a member of the City Council of the City of Little Rock since 1933 , and had, just prior to his death, been re-elected to serve his fifth consecutive term in the City Council as Alderman from the Third ward, and WHEREAS, During his long period of service to the City of Little Rock, he took an active interest in the promotion of the City 's best interests and development , and WHEREAS, He has given generously of his time and energy in the service of his country in time of war and of peace , and WHEREAS, Charles J. Craig was at all times during his active and industrious life , a respected citizen, a Christian, a faithful public servant , a loyal friend, and, for the last twenty- two years of his life, a devoted husband and father, and WHEREAS, The loss occasioned oy his untimely death will be long felt by the City Council of the City of Little Rock, by his wife and daughters , by his friends , and by the entire community , NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That in the death of Charles J. Craig, the City Council of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, has lost a valuable member, a loyal, respected citizen, and an untiring worker for the :betterment of the community; that it take this means of expressing, by •way of tribute , the deep sense of loss and regret at the passing of a true American. SE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this Resolution be spread upon the records of this body , and a copy thereof be transmitted to the widow and daughters of Charles J. Craig as an expression of the City Council ' s heartfelt sympathy for their bereavement. Adopted: January 20, 1941. Attest : Approved: City Clerk. Acting mayor.
