HomeMy WebLinkAbout1344• f RESOLUTION NO. 1344 WHEREAS, the State Highway Commission of the State of Arkansas is desirous of constructing State Highway No. 10 through the City of Little Rock and is desirous of routing the traffic through the City of Little Rock ovor "Q" Street, Cantrell Road, Robinson Drive, Lincoln Street, Cross Street, West Capitol Avenue, Broadway, Roosevelt Boulevard and Arch Street, from the Westerly Corporate Limit to the Southerly Corporate Limit and across all intersecting streets, and WHEREAS, the State Highway Commission of the State of Arkansas is desirous of receiving Federal aid.for the improvement of said highway; and WHEREAS, the Bureau of Public Roads of the Department of Agriculture of the United States of America will not participate in the construction of said highway until and unless the City of Little Rock will agree to refrain from permitting encroachments upon the right of way of said above mentioned route, and until and unless the City of Little Rock will agree to refrain from passing ordinances or laws fixing unreasonable speed limits on the said above mentioned route, and until and unless the City of Little Rock will agree to refrain from erecting signs, semaphores and signals that will give preference to local routes or that will hinder or delay traffic on said above route. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Little Rock, that, for and in consideration of the State Highway Commission of the State of Arkansas and the Bureau of Public Roads of the Department of Agriculture of the United States of America, constructing said highway adjacent to the City of Little Rock and routing the traffic through the City of Little Rock over the above described route it hereby agrees with the State Highway Commission of the State of Arkansas and the Bureau of Public Roads of the Department of Agriculture of the United States of America that it will not in the future permit encroachments upon the right of way of staid above mentioned route, nor will it pass any ordinances a - 2 - or la q fixing unreasonable speed limits on the above mentioned route, nor dill it alloT the erection of signs, semaphores and sipna.ls that will give preference to local routes which intersect rith said above mentioned route, nor that rill sloe up, hinder or delay traffic on said abovementioned route. Re: State Job No. 6189 Dear Sir: 'de enclose herewith six copies of a resolution which the City Council is requested to pass in regard to the improvement of #10 highway from the end of the present concrete on "q" Street West some five miles. The State proposes to put asphalt on this section and it is a requirement by the Bureau of Public Roads that the City of Little Rock pass a resolution as indicated in the copies attached, for the route of #10 through the City. We have asked the County Judge for the Right of Way on this project and are asking you to execute this resolution.
