Home My WebLink About2749_IX ORDINANCE NO. 2749. An Ordinance Providing for the Yearly License of Chauffeurs, and for other purposes. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK: Section 1. Chauffeurs' License. Before any person shall operate or drive any automobile, jitney bus, or other motor - driven vehicle for hire, hQ shall first procure a chauffeur's license, as hereinafter provided. An application for license to operate or drive an automobile or j iiney -As for hire on the streets of Little Rock shall be made in writing,and sworn to upon blanks furnished by the City Collector, to the Mayor of the City of Little Rock, who shall appoint some competent person to exaihine the applicant, as hereinafter provided. Said application for chauffeur's license shall be accompanied by a fee of $5.00 and shall be signed by three reputable citizens, and upon receipt of said fee the City Collector, if said petition for license is granted, shall provide the applicant with suitable chauffeur's license badge, which shall be worn by such chauffeur conspicuous- ly displayed upon the lapel of the coat of said chauffeur, or, if no coat is worn, shall be conspicuously displayed upon his shirtfront. Separate form of badges, neither of which shall be of a greater *idth, length, or diameter than 11 inches, shall be provided for taxi drivers and jitney drivers. Those badges issued to chauffeurs driving taxicabs shall contain on their face the following wording: "Little Rock - Taxi ", and the number of said license, and those badges issued to chauffeur driving jit- neys shall contain the wording: "Little Rock - Jitney ", and shall c,)7�� p--qe rt N II AI0 also contain the number of the license of said chauffeur. Where any applicant is rejected, the fee accompanying the application shall be returned to applicant. Section 2. Said license badge shall show upon its face the year for which issued, and shall authorize the driving of an automobile for hire only for the year in which issued, and each calendar year, or portion thereof, such person shall operate or drive any automobile, jitney bus, or other motor - driven vehicle for hire, tae shall file a new application, pay the same fee, and such application shall be endorsed by three reputable citizens to the effect that applicant is of good moral character. Section 3. Ordinance No. 2566, Ordinance No. 2615, Section 3 of Ordinance No. 2173, and all other ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed, and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
