An Ordinance 1.ccepting the Report of the Public Utilities Committee,
Which Conter_,_plates the Purchase of the Plant of the ��rl ansavr

Authorizing z ing the Mayor and City Clerk, to
Calla Special Election In Regard to Said Purchase,
Fixing the Date for aaid. Election, and
'Thereas, the Utilities Committee of this Council, acting
rith a special committee heretofore appointed, and the subcomraittee of
such committees, have reported to this council that it vrould be to the
advantage of the city and all of its residents to purchase the plant of
the slirkansaw `,`. at er Company and to secure control of its �- at er supply
system as early as possible, as both the health and the safety, as ,yell
as the convenience of the entire community, is vitally affected, . ^ct
that I such purchase was essential to the continued grwTth and ;prosperity
of this city, vrith �&Iilah report .-ras ear_ i L,ited figures' and facts from
attorneys and engineers, and it is IV-he sense of this council that the
facts stated in such report of the Utilities Committee, the special
committee, the subcommittee, and in the exhibits thereto, are correct
in every respect , and said reports and the reconui:endati ons therein
should be adopted; Novi, Therefore:
BE IT ORDAIILTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROC`':
Section 1. That said reports and exhibits and the recommenda-
tions therein are hereby accepted and approved by this council and that
they shall be made pert of the record of this council, and that steps
be taken in accordance therewith to purchase that portion of the plant
of the Arkansavr ''rater Company devoted to the public use and to secure
co _trol of the - :rater sv_pply s`.- stem of this city as early as possible.

Section 2. That in order to obtain an expression of the
sentiment of the people of Little Rock upon such pro -ect, a special
election shall be held upon December 15, 1922, between the hours and
according to the manner provided by statute for the holding of general
elections; and the.Iayor and City Clem;. are her`cts z.zea an i-
rected to name judges, clerks, provide ballots and to otherwise super-
vise and mae such vales and regulations as may be necessary for the
holding of such elections, the return and counting of the ballots, and
do all such other acts and things in connection therewith as may be
necessary to obtain an expression from the people of this city as to
the advisability of the project outlined in such reports, exhibits and
in this ordinance, and their doings in that behalf, together with the
results of said election, shall be reported back to this council at
its first rneetinS after December 15, 1922, the date herein set for the
holding of Said election.

hera'rith are hereby repealed., and this ordinance shall tas e effect and.
be in force from and after its passage.
