BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUT.CIL OF THE CITY CF LITTLE ROCK:
SECTION 1. That the schedule of rates and charges for
water service furnished by the Arkansas ;'dater Company to the
City of Little Rock, and the inhabitant,: thereof, be and the
same is hereby fixes;., as hereinafter set forth, the same to
go into effect from and after August 31, 1923, except for
metered consumers for which the rates will become effective
with the last readiLg of the meters in August.
SECTION 2.
SCHEDULE OF EATES AND CHARGES.
TITER RATES
Except for the prevention and extingguishuent of fires, water
will be furnished to all consumers by meter measurement, oub-
ject to the meter minima herein provided, at the following
rates: -

The Minima charges for water service shall be as follows:_
For 1/2" meter (5/811 threads) $1.20 per month, or $3.60
per quarter; except for residences occupied by one family,
having one water fixture only, the minimum charge for crater
service shall be ,x.90 per month or 2.70 per c_uarter.
For meters larger than 1/2" (5%811 threads) the minima
charges for water service shall be proportional to the area
of the size of the meter, base, on a minim-am of �1,1.20 per
?loath or $3.60 per quarter for a 1/2" meter (5/81T threads) .
NOTI :- !Tor the minima charger herein, thy:; consumer will be
entitled to receive that quantity of - ;-,ater, at the meter
rate per 100 cubio feet, equal to the minimum charge.
For exa:,_��Te : - The consumer whose minimuum charge is ..,1.20
per month or 43.60 per :; uarter shall be entitled. to receive
not more than 400 cubic feet of water per month or 1,200
cubic feet per quarter for the mini}tum charge; and the
consumer whose minimum charge is $.90 per month or X2.70
per quarter shall be entitled to receive not more than
500 cubic feet of vrater per month or 900 cubic _feet per
a_uar.ter, -�Athout additional charge.
The size of meter sha=,_1 be commensurate with the use
of water and shall be determined by the ;titer Company.

New Services.
Where its mains are now or may hereafter be laid, the Plater
Co.npany will install and maintain at its expense, service
connections to property abutting its eater main in the
street, to a point just inside the curb line, e _-kept service
connections tc supply seater for the prevention and extinguish -
ment of fire, providec the service connection can be laid at
right angles to the street main and water is desired for imme-
diate and continuous use.
:3_ CTICIT 5.
Assignment of Services.
Service connections, excepting those used fog the prevertion
and extinguishment of fires, when assigned and trans erred to
the dater Company upon a form provided therefor, will thereafter
be maintained and renewed by the Corapa,ay between the street
main and the curb line. The maintenance and renewal of service
connections will not be undertaken by the ':rater Company except
for those laid at right angles wit_- the street .-iiain of the
Company to the abutting property.

The ',pater Company reserves the right to :.lake special rates
and conditions of service, there "break - downer or "intermittent"
service is desired.

SECTION 7.

MAC bERVICE
Public Fire Hydrants
For the privilege of taking water for the prevention and
extinguishment of fire, through hydrants attached to the
pipe system as of June 30, 1922, the City of Attle Rock
will be charged as rental or a public charge, at the rate
of 124,000.00 per annum, payable in twelve equal monthly
installment;, on or before the twentieth (20th) jay of each
month for the service rendered during the previous month.
SECTION B.
Pipe Extensions f or
Zablic _: ire Hydrants.
The City, by appropriate acti _;n of its Council, may require
the Water Company at the expense of the Dilater Company, to in-
stall additional fire hydrants and connect same to the then
existing pipe system, six (6 ") inches or larger in diameter,
and may also require the ,Fater Company, at the expense of the
Water Compan , to extend the then present pLpe system, six (6 ")
inches or larger in aiameter, and install and connect thereto
public fire hydrants upon the following terms and conditions
(a The '.pater Company shall determine the size of each extension
to its pipe system, ordered by the city Council but no extensions
ordered to the pipe system, shall be less than eight (8 ") inches
inside diameter.
(b) The City shall pay to the ;later Company as fire hydrant rental
or the public charge, for such additional public fire hydrants
ordered by the City and installed by and at the expense of the water
C ompany , it addition to the annual rental of Q,000-00 for public
fire hydrant connected to the pipe system as of June 30, 1922, all
annual rental, payable in twelve equal Aonthly installments, on or
before the uwentieth dal of the month following the month for which
the .service was rendere , an amount equal to nine (9,:,) percentum of
the cost of installing such hydrants, tog: ther with nine (9%) pereen-
tum of the cost of extending the pipe system, when necessary to supply
hydrants so ordered by the City.
(o) Fire hydrants may be installed and attached to the then existing
pipe system, six (6 ") inches and larger inside diameter, by and at the
expense of the City, for which no charge will be made, provided the
fire hydrants so installea are maintained and kept in good repair by
and at the expense of the City.

Changing location or
Character of -ublic _sire
Hydrants.
The 746 public lire hydrants connected to the existing pipe system
as of June 30, 1922, nithin the corp rate limit: of the City, shall
remain permanent as to character and location, provided, however, in
the event the City aesire4 to change the character or location of
any hydrant, the ',later Company shall male such changes upon written
order of the City and upon the payment by the City A the actual ex-
pense incident to making. Each changes.

[dater for General Use.

All water used by the City of Little Rock itself, for naiaicipal
purposes (other than for the prevention and extinguishment ":;f fire,
water reasonably necessary for te: tin fire hydrants, and v;ater
reasonably necessary for practice of City Firemen) shall be paid
for by meter mes„z-"urement at the r: =.te of ten ('r.10 ) cent: per 100
cubic feet and shall not be tiubject to any meter minima. Pa- vnents
to be made monthly on or before the twentieth (20th) day of each
month for the xoreceecing montho sup.,ly of water.
SECTION 11.
This orr_inance shall take effect from and after August 31, 1923.
