HomeMy WebLinkAbout118601 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 RESOLUTION NO. 11,860 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE DESIGNATION OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT'S CONFERENCE ROOM AS THE "ASSISTANT CHIEF CLARENCE HUNTER MEMORIAL CONFERENCE ROOM "; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, Assistant Chief Clarence Hunter, who became a sworn Little Rock police officer in 1958, was the first African - American to be promoted to Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Assistant Chief before retiring in 1982, and WHEREAS, Assistant Chief Clarence Hunter, served the Little Rock community with honor, and WHEREAS, he was removed as a positive force in the community when he departed from this world on February 23, 2004, and WHEREAS, the Little Rock Police Department has completed the renovation of a conference room in the Office of the Chief of Police located in the Headquarters Building at 700 West Markham Street, and WHEREAS, the conference room includes state -of- the -art technology that will enhance the operations of the Police Department, and WHEREAS, the technology will reinforce the designation that the Little Rock Police Department is a leader in law enforcement in the state of Arkansas, and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. From the effective date of this resolution forward the Chief of Police Conference Room shall be officially known as the Assistant Chief Clarence Hunter Memorial Conference Room. The City Manager and Chief of Police are directed to take all necessary steps in accordance with this resolution; the City Clerk is directed to provide certified copies of this resolution to the Little Rock Police Department and Clarence Hunter's family.
