CONTRACT FOR TF . PURCHASE TT- ?MEOF.
REAS, The present street equipment of the City of
Tittle Rock, including trucks, tractors, steam or gasoline grad-
ers and motor patrols are old, out of date, and greatly dilapi-
dated, having been used in most instances for eight to ten years;
and
WHEREAS, The expense of the repair and upkeep of said
old and worn -out equipment is large, resulting in great loss to
the City; and
T ?�LRE ^S, It is essential to the proper 0Dvernment of
the City, and the due and orderly dispatch of its affairs that
the City obtain new equipment, designed to fill the purposes for
which obtained for a number of years;
N07, THEREFORE, Be It Ordained and enacted by the City
Council of the City of Little Rock:
Section 1. That the Board of Public Affairs of the
City of Little Rock be, and it is hereby directed to procure by
such contract as may be valid and proper the following items of
equipment, to -wit:
Seven (7) 21 -ton, approximately 118 inch wheel base,
chassis, 2 yard hydraulic dump body, 34 x 7 tires,
duals on rear;
Five (5) 1-:,L-ton, approximately 118 inch wheel base,
3 with chassis, cab seat, 32 x 6 Lires front and rear,
and 2 with 11 cubic yard gravity dur-:p bodies;
One (1) 2 -ton, 114 inch wheel base, chassis and cab
seat, 32 x 6 front, and 34 x 7 rear tires;
One (1) Crawler type power shovel, not less than 70
'?.P. capacity, having a full 3600 swing, independent
crowd, and e_Atra high lift, equipped with boom approx-
imately 23 feet, and dipper stick approximately 16
feet, manganese steel dipper of � yard capacity.
One (1) extra clam shell attachment with 40 foot boom;
One (1) Rubber tread push type Maintainer equipped
vrith not less than 15 H.P. tractor at draw bar with
canopy top, which shall be a one -man maintainer unit

equipped with 10 foot mold board mounted on Timken
bearing wheels, gears enclosed and running in oil;
Two (2) Crawler type tractors developing not less
than 20 H.1'. at draw bar, equipped with Universal
flat track shoes having 3 speeds forward and one
reverse;
One (1) 10 -ton crawler type tractor developing not
less than 50 H.P. at draw bar, equipped with Univer-
sal flat tract shoes having 3 speeds forward and one
( reverse;
One (1) 5 -ton crawler type tractor developing not
less than 25 H. P. at draw bar equipped with Univer-
sal flat tract shoes, 3 speeds forward and one reverse;
Two (2) one-man control pull maintainers equipped with
10 foot mold board, machine cut gears enclosed and
running in oil, mounted on Timken roller bearing
wheels. These maintainers are to be used behind the
28 H.P. tractors, weight approximately 4700 #;
One (1) blade grader equipped with 10 foot mold board,
scarifier attachment, mounted on Timken roller bearing
wheels, machine cut gears enclosed and running in oil.
This grader to be used behind 25 H. P. tractor. Weight
approximately 6500#;
One (1) blade grader equipped with 10 foot mold board,
scarifier attachment, mounted on Timken bearing wheels,
machine cut gears enclosed and running in oil. :`!eight
approximately 10,500. This machine is used behind the
50 H. P. Sractor;
One (1) small wheel tractor developing not less than
10 H. P. on draw bar, with interchangeable steel and
rubber tread wheels.
Section 2. That said Board of Public Affairs enter into
a contract whereby it will procure said equipment by paying to the
lowest responsible bidder on the equipment desired by the Street
Department twenty (20) per cent of the contract price on the 1st
day of July, 1930, and the balance in two equal installments of
forty (40) per cent each, payable out of the automobile license
and street funds, on the 1st day of July, 1931 and the lst day of
Jury, 1932, respectively.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall take effect and
be in force from and after the date its passage.
