AN ORDINANCE i- MUCING 'i'HE ANINUAL LEVY IN STREET iMPROVEMENT
DISTRICT NO. 340.

fits; and
Whereas, Street improvement district ivo. 340 is now receiving aid
from the estate i;ii��hway commission to apply on bonds and interest due
year
each and therefore does not need so large a collection to meet its
bonds and interest maturities;
THEREFORE, BE iii ORDAINED b,: the amity council of the uity of Lit-
tle hock, nrkansas:
5E0,21ON 1. shat said several lots, blocks, parcels, rights -of-
way or other subdivisions of real property within said ,treet improve-
ment yistrict ,,o. 340 of the City of yittle hock, arkansas, be and
they are be reby assessed according to the assessment list for said im-
provement district as the same now remains in the office of the City
clerk of the Lity of Little bock, or as the same may be annually re-
adjusted by the --oard of assessors, and that two and five - sixths per
cent ($ 5/6o) of said assessment of the value of the benefits on each
lot, block, pardel, right -of -way or other subdivision of real property
in said district shall be paid annually on or before August 29th of
each year, beginning August 29th, 1931, until the whole of said assess-
ments have been paid.
oECTIUN 2. chat all ordinances or party of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed and this ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage.

Whereas, Broadway street from the Arkansas river
bridge to 10th street is within a special improvement; district
and from 10th to 25th street is an annex to said district Iand,
Whereas, said street from the Broadway bridge to
25th street is incorporated in and hus for several years been
a part of the State Highway System and,
Whereas, there are other districts or parts of
districts in Little hock that are parts of the State Highway
System and,
Iddhereas, the 1931 general assembly of the state of
ArKansas has passed two bills both of which have been signed
by the govenor and are now the law, one known as the Meyers
bill which places 50;o of all unmatured bonds of any special
improven(_,n `: district within cities in the district of the
State Highway System, and the Norphlet bill calling for the
payment of all unmatured bonds of such districts and,
Whereas, the assessm.,nt ordinances are not; p-= :ss - --,
annually by th:; city council but in some cases the assessments are
automatic and,
Whereas, it is the desire of the city council to
relieve tax payers of such improvem --nt districts in the city
from paying; any unnecessary assessments.
Therefore, be it rosolved that the city collectcbr be
directed to advise the commissioners and attorneys of any such
districts that no further assessments are to be collected until
the status of these districts stall be ascertained and to :re-
frain from making; any demands for future assessments from. the
owners of property in special improvement districts which are a
part of any St,,:te Highway System in the city of Little Kock.
