AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE M)kYOR AND THE BOARD
OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK TO ADVERTISE FOR
BIDS FOR THE FURNISHING OF BULLET -PROOF AUTOMOBILE 'JVINDSHLFLDS
TO THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK:
SECTION 1. The Mayor and the Board of Public Affairs
of the City of Little Rock are hereby authorized and directed
to advertise immediately for bids for the furnishing to the City
of Little Rock �l._, bullet -proof automobile windshields.
SECTION 2. Immediately after said bids have been re-
ceived, it shall be the duty of the Mayor to report the prices
and specifications obtained to the Little Rock City Council.
SECTION 3. It being ascertained and found by the Lit-
tle Rock City Council that the windshields now in the automobiles
used by the Police Department furnish no protection to the of-
ficers; that the lives of the police officers are thereby con-
stantly endangered and imperilled, and that for the protection
of the public peace, health, and safety, of the citizenship of
the City of Little ?dock, the immediate purchase of bullet -proof
automobile windshields is necessary, an emergency is hereby
declared, and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its passage and approval.
