AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING `$1,250.00 FROM THE GENERAL
FUND OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK FOR THE PURPOSE OF P._YING THE
FIRST ANNUAL RENTAL INSTALL1ET "T OPT LEASE FOR PROPERTY FOR NEGRO
RECREATIOII?AL PARK, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, The City of Little Rock, through its Mayor and
Board of Public Affairs, under d^.te of Jr.nuary 2nd, 1935, has
entered into a. contract with the Union Trust Company, Trustee and
the Bank Commissioner of the State of Arkansas in charge of Union
Trust Compamy for liquidation, for the lease of a certain tract of
land kno;Tn as ti.e T:jcCarthy -Fones Tract and containing approximate-
ly 497 acres in Sections 14, 23, and 26, Toi�mshin 1 North, Range
12 '.',est, Pulaski County, Arkansas for use as a. negro recreational
park or transient camp, and
14HEREAS, under the terms of said lease tine City of Little
Rock agreed to pay to the Union Trust Company, Trustee the sum of
$1,250.00 per annum rent for said property, NOVI, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORD TINED BY r1HE CITY COU 1CIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKAITSAS:
Section 1. That the suiri of $1,250.00 be appropriated out
of the General Revenue Fund of the City of Little Rock for the pay-
ment of the first annual installment of rent on the tract of land
known as the McCarthy -Fones Tract containing apnroxima,tely 497
acres in Sections 14, 23 and 26, Township 1 North, Range 12 `.'est,
Pulaski County, Arkr.nsa.s, and the I1sayor and City Clerk are hereby
authorized to issue the City's warrant in the sum of $1,250.00 for
the payment of said annual rent on the afore - mentioned property.
Section 2. The payment under the terms of the above
mentioned lease being due January 25th, 1935, an emergency is here-
by declared to exist, and this ordinance being necessary for the
immediate -preservation of the public peace, health, and safety,
the same shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage.
