HomeMy WebLinkAbout5261'r • e 0 ORDIINANCE N0. 5261 AN ORDINANCE CLOSING FIFTEENTH STREET FROM THAYER TO JONES, CLOSING THAYER STREET FROM FOURTEENTH STREET TO THE NORTH BOUNDARY OF THE ALLEY RUNNING T ii OUCH BLOCK TWELVE,, ;1'ORTiiEN AND BROFdNIS ADDITION TO THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK; ALSO CLOS- ING AN ALLEY BEGINNING AT JONES STREET BETWEEN FOURTEENTH ADD FIFTEENTH STREETS AND RUNNING EAST BETWEEN LOTS 4, 5, 6 and LOTS 7, 81 9 OF BLOCK 7, RIORTH EN AND BRUNN I S ADDI T ION TO THE CITY OF LITTLE: ROCK; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES WHEREAS, The Little Rock School Board is anxious to acquire a stadium to be erected on 3'locks 7 and 12 of .1orthen and 3rotnn's Ad- dition to the city of Little Mock; and, i;HEREIS, Said Board is informed by the i4orks Progress Admin- istration that they will start construction in the near future; and, WHEREAS., Said Little Rock School Board owns all the property adjacent to said streets with the exception of lots 4, 5, and 6 of Block 7, Worthen and - roan's Addition to the City of Little Rock and further that closing, of said streets Rill not interfer with any of the citizens surrounding said territory Gov, Therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CI'T`Y COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK SECTION 1, That Thayer Street beginning; with Fourteenth Street and running thence South to the 1,ortn boundary of an alley in Block 12, l'ortzen and 3row n's Addition to the City of Little Rock, same being Between Fifteenth and Sixteenth Streets, is hereby closed to the public use. SECTION 2. Fifteenth street from Thayer Street I.est to Jones Street all within the City of = -ittle ock is hereby closed to the pule lie use. SECTION 3. the alley between Fourteenth and Fifteenth streets and commencin`; at Jones Street and extending East between mots 4,5, and 6 and 7, 8, and 9 is hereby closed to the public use. SECTION 4. Whereas it is important to the citizens of the pity of Little Rock that a stadium be constructed for the use and benefit of the Senior High School students and whereas the erection and construction of said stadium will be for the benefit of the peace, f J r � R -2- health and safety of the citizens of the amity of Little Rock, an emer- gency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
