HomeMy WebLinkAbout5270r i . b A ORDINANCE N0. 5270 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO MAKE AN APPLICATION TO THE PUBLIC WORKS ADMINISTRATION OF THE FEDERAL GOVERN- MENT TO SECURE A GRANT TO FINANCE THE CONSTRUCTION OF A FINE ARTS MUSEUM FOR THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES BE IT ORDAINg D BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS SECTION 1. The Mayor is hereby authorized and empoiered to file an application for and in behalf of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas to secure for the City a grant from the Public Works Admin- istration of the Federal Government of the sum of money sufficient to enable the City to construct and complete a Fine Arts Museum for the City of Little Rock, Arkansas. The Mayor is hereby granted spe- cific authority to file such application to take such steps as may -be necessary to meat the requirements imposed by the Federal Govern - ment in the securing of said grant. SECTION 2. Whereas, the granting of said loan will enable the City to contract a project upon which many persons now unempl©Y t- ed could be gainfully employed an emergency is, therefore, declared to exist, and the passage of this ordinance is hereby found to be necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety; and the same shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
